Wright Brothers National Memorial

Some of the first individuals that successfully flew an airplane are the Wright Brothers. The place that played homage to this feat is the Wright Brothers National Memorial. When you visit the area, you will see the exact places where the brothers landed and took off with their airplanes. You will also see their working conditions through various reconstructed buildings. Discovery Place

Discovery Place was established in 1981 as a non-profit organization in Charlotte. There are four components in Discovery Place, including two Discovery Place Kids locations in Rockingham and Huntersville, Discovery Place Science, and Discovery Place Nature in Charlotte. You will see several hands-on exhibits, science experiments, and an IMAX Dome Theater in the science center.

Sliding Rock

You will find Sliding Rock in the Pisgah National Forest with its 60-foot tall natural rock water slide. The pool beneath the fall is between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also 6 to 7 feet deep, depending on the time of year.
